The General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) Diploma is a comprehensive 3-year program designed to prepare compassionate and skilled nurses for the healthcare industry. At Bhatnagar Institute, our GNM program combines rigorous academic training with extensive hands-on clinical experience at Bhatnagar Hospital, a 150-bed institution currently undergoing NABH certification.
This program is ideal for students who want to quickly enter the nursing profession and make a meaningful impact in healthcare while building a stable and rewarding career.

Why Bhatnagar?
Bhatnagar Hospital is a 150-bed working institution founded 40 years ago by Dr. Bhatnagar - the first MD in Roorkee. Today it runs daily OPDs, an active ICU, and a labour room, with a team that includes Dr. Sandhya Bhatnagar (past President of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics) leading neonatal care, Dr. Arpit Tomar in cardiology, and a strong anesthesiology team running the ICU.
As a GNM student, you'll do your clinical hours where the patients actually are - not in a building that operates only on inspection days. You'll learn to insert a cannula, manage a ventilator, assist a delivery, and care for a critically ill patient because you've done it under supervision.
That skill is what employers across the region recognize. That's the Bhatnagar advantage.
Eligibility Criteria
- Academic: Passed 12th standard (10+2) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with minimum 45% marks (40% for SC/ST)
- Age: Minimum 17 years as on 31st December of admission year
- Medical Fitness: Must be medically fit as per prescribed standards
- Registration: Must be registered with Uttarakhand Nursing Council after admission

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I pursue BSc Nursing after completing GNM?
Yes, after completing GNM and gaining some work experience, you can pursue BSc Nursing through lateral entry programs (usually 2-year courses).
Is this a residential or commuter college?
Bhatnagar Institute is a commuter college. We run a single shuttle from Bhatnagar Hospital (Civil Lines, Roorkee) to campus and back. Departures are 9:10 AM out and 4:00 PM back, sharp. ₹1,000/month, no partial months. Hostel residents from outside Roorkee should arrange their own accommodation through us or independently.
Will I get practical training during the course?
Yes, you will receive extensive practical training at Bhatnagar Hospital starting from your first year itself, with increasing clinical exposure each year.
Are there placement opportunities after completion?
Yes, but we do not promise 100% placement. Our inaugural cohort started September 2025 and is currently in Year 1, so we have no graduates yet. What we offer: 6-month internship at Bhatnagar Hospital for every student, an active placement cell connecting graduates to NABH hospitals across Uttarakhand and Delhi NCR, and skill-first training so you can walk into any NABH hospital and work from day one. Bhatnagar Hospital may hire a small number of top performers each year.
Is this course recognized for government jobs?
Our GNM is approved by Uttarakhand Nursing Council and affiliated with HNBUMU university. Indian Nursing Council (INC) inspection is scheduled for the 2026-27 academic session - INC inspects new colleges only after students are enrolled and clinical training is underway. Certification will be granted well before the first cohort graduates, making graduates eligible for government nursing jobs.

क्या मेरी बेटी सुरक्षित रहेगी?
हाँ। कैंपस में 24/7 CCTV है, महिला फैकल्टी हैं, anti-ragging committee है। रूड़की से एक शटल बस सीधे भटनागर अस्पताल से कॉलेज तक चलती है (सुबह 9:10, शाम 4:00 बजे)।
क्या INC अप्रूवल है?
राज्य नर्सिंग काउंसिल (Uttarakhand) और HNBUMU विश्वविद्यालय की मान्यता है। INC निरीक्षण 2026-27 सत्र में होगा - यह हर नए नर्सिंग कॉलेज में आखिरी कदम है। INC कागज़ पर नहीं, ज़मीन पर निरीक्षण करता है। पहले बैच के पास होने से पहले ही पूरी मान्यता मिल जाएगी।
फीस ₹1 लाख क्यों? और कॉलेज सस्ते भी हैं।
सही बात है। पर सस्ते कॉलेजों में ट्रेनिंग कागज़ पर होती है - असली अस्पताल नहीं होता। यहाँ डॉ. भटनागर का 150 बेड का चालू अस्पताल है, असली मरीज़, असली डॉक्टर। पहले साल की नौकरी (₹2-3 लाख/साल) से पूरा खर्च निकल आता है।
नौकरी कहाँ मिलेगी?
हम 100% नौकरी की गारंटी नहीं देते - हम नहीं चाहते कि झूठ बोलें। हम जो देते हैं: भटनागर अस्पताल में 6 महीने की भुगतान युक्त इंटर्नशिप (paid internship), और रीजन के NABH अस्पतालों में placement drives। आपका हुनर असली है, इसलिए अच्छी नौकरी मिलेगी।
